Dulwich Deny Cheshunt Three Points
Dulwich Hamlet fought back from behind to claim a point against Cheshunt at Theobalds Lane in the Isthmian League Premier Division.
Luke Wanadio’s slotted strike 16 minutes into the second half cancelled out Tommy Wood’s earlier opener and saw the spoils shared in Hertfordshire.
Dulwich caught Cheshunt on the break, as Anthony Jeffrey found George Porter down their left-hand side, whose low, driven cross was slid in by the dangerous Wanadio at the far post.
The hosts had earlier taken the lead, when Wood tapped home after Fionn Murphy’s left-footed strike was parried into his path by Luton loanee Jameson Horlick.
Both sides had chances to win the game in the closing stages, with Wanadio striking the post and Danny Mills firing over via a deflection from close range for the visitors. Horlick was also called into action on a number of occasions to prevent Cheshunt from finding a winner.
The first half had belonged to Cheshunt and they were ultimately made to pay for spurned chances, whilst they were in the ascendency.
Tobias Braney was twice clean through on goal in the closing stages of the first-half, but was thwarted by Horlick on both occasions.
Dulwich had showed their threat though, with the linesman’s flag denying Porter midway through the first half, after a driven cross from Wanadio.
The result saw Dulwich drop down from 10th to 12th in the Isthmian league Premier Division table, whereas Cheshunt have risen a place from 17th to 18th with a hard-fought point.
